Authentic Mature Adult Horse Conch Gastropod Shell

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink!

Your eyes focus on a Horse Conch Shell, mostly known as the Florida Horse Conch. This shell was once home to an extremely large subtropical or tropical sea snail, marine gastropod mollusc specie whose known for its predatory ways. Although Horse Conch Shells are actually not real conch shells, they grow in lengths between 6-12 inches. Pictured is the shell of a matured adult gastropod. Adults house shells that exhibit a greyish white to salmon orange colour as their periostracum darkens, while the shells of the young are seen in bright orange. As you can see the shell is of a spiraled whorl, created of 95% calcium carbonate + 5% organic matter used to provide durability, stability + strength. They are heavy + thick, w| a feeling similar to glass when your finger is rubbed across its mouth. Its protoconch presents a blush pink.
