Hoodoo vs Voodoo
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
It is highly disrespectful & very much offensive for individuals who are not of Afrikan and/or Native Amerikan descent to practice & call upon the Spirits, Ancestors & Deities, in our blood lineage for assistance + guidance.
If you who reads this have no blood connection to either descent & would like to get an innerstanding of our culture, purchase products for your own spirituality and/or services - you are free to stay for these purposes only. Otherwise, please read & complete the following steps.
You're the descendant of an oppressor + you have no business practicing Vodou or Hoodoo!

Now, moving on...
Those who do not have any Afrikan and/or Native Amerikan blood in their lineage is considered an oppressor no matter what. Our oppressors already & will always view our spirits, ancestors, deities, traditions & culture as demonic. When they view us, they see what they can own. Melanin tops all. This means that those of a Afrikan Amerikan and/or Native Amerikan bloodline, are well within their right to practice if they feel called upon by spirits and/or ancestors to do so.
We are the descendants of ancestors + spirits who were royal heirs, great w| growing crops + much more but some also may have experienced enslavement, was betrayed + taken from their families by our oppressors. We call upon them for guidance & assistance w| hardships we face in life. This is "being led". They know the bullsh*t we endure just because we're us. They have practiced not only Vodou/Vodun (Voodoo) in secrecy, but Hoodoo (Hudu) too, that helped the, break free from the chains of enslavement and/or rebuilding their royal status. Reconnecting w| what they've lost.
Do not let the world wide web, media, a friend, any other culture vulture or appropriator convince you otherwise. This is for us & was created by us to assist us - Afrikan + Native Amerikan descendants - w| issues that we still face on daily frequencies. These include, but are not limited to:
- Imprisonment
- Court cases
- Financial blockages
- Entrepreneurship
- Employment
- Home ownership + so much more.
Our oppressors, however, still think it is ok to take what is for us & make it for them. Why? Because our spirits, ancestors + deities are powerful as hell. Of course, they want to use that power too. When they use it, they refer to it as "bad", "negative", or "demonic"! Hence the name "black magic" or "dark magic". In doing so, there's been many cases where they + their descendants have paid the price + received an invoice that provides an unchangeable total of why they are no longer here to tell their story! Research the story on Katelyn "Kat" Restin if you must.
I say that to say this...
Protect our traditions, culture + legacy by any means necessary!
Because one thing for certain & two for sure, if & when you don't, our Spirits, Ancestors, Deities + Guides damn sure will!

What is Asé?
Asé, pronounced "Ah-shay" is similar to saying "Amen, Ahmen", but w| actual power. You are setting your intentions, incantations, prayers + affirmations into stone. You'll say Asé at the end or within each spoken context you are solidifying.
Your Asé is very powerful. Use it cautiously & unapologetically. Be mindful to stray away from putting any negative innerG, intent or ill will on self when saying it.
Be aware of allowing anyone access to it!

What you thought you knew!

Hoodoo [Hudu]
-------------
Hudu, which is Hoodoos' spelling transitioned upon appropriation. When you hear the terms "folk magic", "root worker", "root doctor", "conjure wo(men)", "conjure", "work"; Hoodoo is what you're referring to.
Hudu is Afrikan Amerikan folk magick. It is considered "folk magick" because it is a blend of Afrikan, Native Amerikan/Indigenous Botanicals + European traditions. Our southern enslaved ancestors that were placed and transported on boats would share different tricks, trades & ideas w| other enslaved ancestors. The mixture of ways to do work, to fight against our oppressors is how we have Hoodoo today.
Practitioners do not believe in monotheism. They believe there are Ancestors, Gods, Spirits & the Universe who work & functions together, to complete tasks that promotes results + aid in holistic healing, magick, rituals + protection. Each have a set of abilities that they're most powerful in to aid the practitioner in their craft. Hoodoo is now highly known, practiced more + based in the United States where it's traditions and practices are based on the above mentioned. That means you will find yourself working w| herbs, roots, bones, DNA (spit, hair, blood etc.), links/taglocks (personal property of a target), your words (incantations), your connection w| the Universe, Ancestors and/or the Divine to create magickal forces that'll assist you in everyday living.
